This year marks the 10th anniversary of World Tai Chi Day, an annual world-wide event where Tai Chi practitioners from over 60 countries perform their art, generating Qi (life energy) and creating a wave of Tai Chi energy that circles the globe one hour at a time as the day progresses. Participating countries range from Australia to Russia, Ecuador to Ireland, Israel to Thailand, South Africa to Spain, and, of course, Park Slope, Brooklyn, NY! April 26, 2008
Simu Tzyann Hsu is honored with a Proclamation signed by New York State Assemblyman James F. Brennan for her many years of hard work and community service bringing Tai Chi to seniors. For over a decade, Simu has been a dedicated teacher of seniors, bringing Tai Chi to senior centers and nursing homes, including the Park Slope Senior Citizens Center, Prospect Hill Senior Services Center and United Senior Citizens Center of Sunset Park. Simu Tzyann Hsu has taught Tai Chi in Park Slope, Brooklyn, NY, for over 15 years. She is chief instructor of the Brooklyn Kung Fu & Tai Chi Academy and a dedicated teacher of seniors at the Park Slope Senior Citizens Center and Prospect Hill Senior Services Center. Simu's students have won gold and silver medals in Tai Chi Chuan and Tai Chi Weapons at the 2006, 2007 and 2008 Wong Fei Hung Kung Fu Tournament. In addition to her expertise in Tai Chi Chuan, Simu has trained in Bagua Zhang, Hsing-I Chuan and Hung Ga Kung Fu. Simu won five gold medals for Bagua Zhang, Hsing-I Chuan and Executive Weapons at the 2006 and 2007 Wong Fei Hung Kung Fu Tournaments.
